Denton County Spotlights Mission is to shine a Spotlight on Denton County. Denton County is the 9th-most populous county in Texas. The 2019 Census Bureau estimate for Denton County’s population is 887,207. The county, which was named for John B. Denton, was established in 1846 and is now a part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. Denton County encompasses the cities and towns of: Argyle, Aubrey, Bartonville, Copper Canyon, Corral City, Cross Roads, Denton, Double Oak, Flower Mound, Hackberry, Hickory Creek, Highland Village, Justin, Krugerville, Krum, Lake Dallas, Lakewood Village, Lantana, Lewisville, Lincoln Park, Little Elm, NorthLake, Oak Point, Paloma Creek, Ponder, Roanoke, Sanger, Shady Shores, The Colony ,and Trophy Club; as well as the Metroport – Alliance corridor area of North Fort Worth; Northern Haslet, Southlake and Grapevine; and portions of Western Frisco and Prosper.
